Partnering with crime survivors to stop the cycle of harm
Troy Rienstra, CAPPS organizer, helped convene a July 1 training for organizations working to assist underserved crime survivors in the Grand Rapids area. Aqeela Sherrills, national training director for the Alliance for Safety and Justice, provided an in-depth explanation of how crime survivors are working to pursue policies that promote safer communities and help crime survivors heal.
We thank all those who attended, including Ray Winans and Carlton Evans, who drove from Detroit. We also are grateful to Hope Church for the meeting space, Carol Rienstra for assisting with refreshments, and Herasanna Richards for her continuing support.
